You know what I love the most about life? Is looking back on all the struggles, disappointments, breakdowns and realize that you survived. You came out on top just when you thought you couldn’t push through. Even if things don’t always go the way that you want them to they really do work themselves out in the end. Some people may believe in destiny but I believe that sometimes you are supposed to be given the cards you’re dealt in life but that doesn’t mean you can’t hand those cards right back. In life you are thrown curveballs all the time and lets be honest, what fun would it be if your life always went according to plan? Life is not easy but the most satisfactory thing is reflecting back on the past year, the past five years and see how far you’ve actually come. Now that’s something to be proud of.
My mom once said to me, “if you ever have car troubles but don’t know what the problem is, don’t take it in to a mechanic because they will try to sell you things you don’t need. Instead park yourself on the side of the highway, pop your hood, and look confused. Some mechanic will pull over to help and he’ll tell you what the problem is for free.” And that’s the day I realized that I could make the patriarchy work for me.
